The normal color scheme on this site now is BLUE. However, if you visit the site and it's RED, what that means, is there's a severe weather alert happening. It's our way of trying to alert you quickly that there is something you may need to be aware of. Please keep that in mind as you visit the site.

The Dixon Weather Service is a NOT for profit, public service agency that serves the local portions of Central Missouri. We are CERTIFIED by the National Weather Service (NWS) for SKYWARN operations which means our storm spotters, storm chasers and weather observers are trained yearly by the National Weather Service (NWS) and we have our certification on file.

Our pledge is to become the most reliable source of weather information for Dixon, Including central Missouri along with tracking, confirming and documenting weather related events that occur in central Missouri.We also pledge to be a non profit community service agency.

The Dixon Weather Service serves as a device so that you, the area resident and other interested parties, may receive the local weather forecast along with any watches and/or warnings that are issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) - We are also a SKYWARN agency and encourage persons to report severe weather to us so we may in turn relay the reports to the National Weather Service (NWS) We are also a storm chasing and weather documentation team. We chase storms and perform documentation of weather related events that occur within 50 miles of Dixon.

We can also function as a community emergency response team. (CERT)

The Dixon Weather Service is a NOT FOR PROFIT service agency, So we are funded through grants and donations. If you find our operations and services useful, please support us by making a donation. The Dixon Weather Service will remain NON PROFIT and we are not endorsed, part of, or funded by the National Weather Service (NWS) or the city of Dixon, MO. Please read our disclaimer for further information.

We offer a local area phone number should you wish to have an updated forecast or wish to report severe weather or weather related damage at any time. The number to call is: 573-759-2749. Please feel free to call 573-759-2749 anytime, 24/7 for a weather update or to report severe weather. All calls into our office are answered in the order received and can be monitored and recorded for quality assurance, training and verification purposes.

All weather data is automatically Measured, Observed And Recorded at 307 West Second Street Dixon, MO USA - Lat/Lon:37.59.5159°N/92.5.8660°W - Elevation:1160 FT

Official Weather Data from Dixon Weather Service is measured with FAA Approved sensors and FAA approved visibility sensor, also advisory wind speed, wind direction, ambient temperature, soil temperature, dew point, leaf wetness, solar radiation, relative humidity and tipping bucket Precipitation gauge and lightning detection.

Our system could be FAA commission-able to provide a legal weather source for PART 91 & PART 135 IFR operations. However, This data is NOT commissioned at this time and therefore should be considered as advisory only and should NOT be used for official aviation forecast services.

Severe Weather Awareness Week

March 8-12th, 2010

 

 

 

State emergency management and the National Weather Service (NWS) will conduct a  Statewide Severe Weather Tornado Drill at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010. Every school, citizen and business is encouraged to participate in the drill by practicing seeking secure, safe shelter from a "tornado".  Please Note - The drill was originally scheduled for Tuesday but due to expected inclement weather, the test day has been postponed to Thursday, March 11th, 2010 at 1:30 p.m.
